So, I am considering to take a site which is on a DO droplet (webinoly) and switching it a clean Linode (with a different and fresh webinoly install). So, just the site.

I'm thinking to create a new WP site on the Linode (with the same name), then just deleting the WP files and uploading the original WP files and importing the original DB.

This seems like a way to avoid having to manually (re)configure any files.

Any thoughts and opinions about this idea are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like that's gonna work. You can also create a backup with a backup plugin, for instance Updraft. Make a backup, create a site on your new site and import the backup again, easy migration.

That's the way I would do it. Updraft saves a whole lot hassle. Unless you like tinkering that is :D
